Intermediate Visit✨

Wednesday 24th of November

All of the year 6s went to the Intermediate that they were going to, the following year. I am going to Ilminster because they have free lunches and there pupils are very kind and caring. Also I am doing Xcel witch is a programme where you get to do a bit of everything Art,PE,Science,Maths,Drama,Cooking and Swimming.

While I was at Ilminster I met some of my old friends from Kindergarten we all met up and played and worked together for the rest of the day it was really fun. At the end of the day we all had to talk about what we enjoyed and what we should bring next year.

After all the talking we walked to the main hall to get into our school lines to head back to school. On the bus I sat with some friends from Awapuni school I made during the day at Ilminster.

Kapa Haka

We were off in a flick of lighting to the kapa haka festival. The front row of boys and girls got changed into their Pew Pew. Then we got into our lines and had a big practise. We definitely sounded AMAZING!

Then one of the staff came out and told us it was time to begin our performance. We all slowly walked up the steps and onto the stage, then the crowd went wild! When they had finished clapping and cheering our Kaia said Whakapiri and we all bunched together and sang E Tariki,O.M.G we sounded terrific. I couldn't believe we sounded so amazing our voices all together just stretched all over and made us sing wonderful.

After all the singing had halfway finished the boys came up and did the Haka. Bay, the Kaia, lead the Haka and all the boys followed with angry and fierce voices. There faces went red as they firmly sang the Haka.

We finished with the crowd clapping and cheering loudly as we walked off the stage I could see people clapping and cheering and crying. This was the best. I love kapa Haka.

Interschool Athletics Day.

On Wednesday 4th of November all of the finalists from our school athletics day went to the interschool athletics to compete against other school members. First up for me was 200m sprints, we all lined up in a diagonal lane then the lady blew the whistle and we were off. At first I was coming fourth then suddenly a few girls over took me because I randomly out of the blue sprained my ankle? Anyway I was coming last with another girl my age and that's how I tied last in the race.

Next was ball throw, I actually did really well in ball throw I think I came around 4th or 5th. Ball throw was really hard though there were a lot of kids that could throw like 43 metres O.M.G. But of course I couldn't do that because I am not as good as the other people.

Sadly I missed my next race because I was carried away playing handball. I wish I had put sunscreen on my shoulders and neck because now my whole arms and neck have a double burn and is fully the colour red.

Monarch Butterfly show

On Wednesday the whole school went to the the Wainui Surf Club to watch the Monarch Butterfly show.

I walked with Lola and Alivia. It was quite interesting we learnt a lot about Monarch butterflies. Female Monarchs have no spots on their back wings and males do, I just learnt something new. It started like this, this girl was practicing her speech at her Nans and she was writing about butterflies then...

This random lady I think it was the Nana dressed up as this lady who loved cars and motor ways, and anyway they were going to destroy Lava Creek which is a butterfly resort where the Nana works. The random lady wanted to destroy lava creek to create a new motor way for cars and trucks because she thought that cars had to wait in traffic for so long. The Nana and the girl tried to make a stop to it and they managed to and the butterflies kept there home. Yay

I thought that the show was actually cool because I learnt a whole lot about Monarch butterflies.

Cross Country Day

 Tuesday 21st of September

On Tuesday we went down to our cross country track, at Okitu. We went in 2 year groups year 6s and year 5s.The year 6s were mixed together because there weren't many girls. The year 6s nervously walked to the starting point, We lined up.Then Matua Nick clapped the blocks and we sped off.

Milo was coming in 1st then I sped past him and started to run. Mako sped past me then bay then Angus. But I was still coming first out of the girls which I was relieved about. I was just about to run down the dip of grass when I got a whole mouthful of grass in my mouth I constantly kept spitting it out but it was stuck in there...

I made it to the second lap while still coming first out of the girls. I came to the dip again and ran straight down it in a hurry. Finally I made it to the finish line everyone cheered for me and I ran to get a drink.

That was sure a tiring day.

Pihita Farm Visitor🌽

On Tuesday the whole of our syndicate went to Tristan's farm to see how farms work and what animals do all day.

Our first station we went to was weighing the sheep.Weighing the sheep is actually really fun. They have this cool automatic scale that they put the sheep on if the sheep weigh the right amount they will go to the killing shed and be shot. If they weigh less they go back into the field and have to eat more grass to get more fat.

We also learnt what type of stuff cows can make with their milk. Our teacher for that station gave us this jar that had cream in it and we had to pass it around to see if the group could make butter our group actually did make butter.

Our group learnt lots of different types of wool. My friend Alivia got to shear the sheep and we saw the sheep when it had no wool and it looked so cute even though it had a few bleeding cuts. Apparently you can make carpets out of wool and I mean very fluffy wool also they made a surfboard made out of wool!

Shared kai in Moana 2

Last Thursday we had a shared kai because Koka Terri our Teacher was having a baby and so she needed to stay at home. For the shared kai I brought yummy fruit kebabs with chocolate and sprinkles.

About the shared kai. There was so much food, everything I ate was so delicious I loved the cheerios and someone brought cups of jelly which I enjoyed. My friend Te Atawhai brought her yummy chocolate chip cookies, I could eat 100 of them they were that good. The shared kai was fun but I will really miss Koka Terri she is a lovely teacher.

About Matua Beaue. Matua Beaue is so fun he is actually quite nice. Today I figured out that he has been to so many different countries. He said he has been to South Korea, Australia, Japan and I think America. Matua Beaue is really tall. Some kids said that Matua Beaue would allow them to do flips off tables so I asked Matua Beaue and he said they were making that all up.

👒Monday and Tuesday beach day.👒

On Tuesday and Monday the whole of Moana syndicate went to the beach for play based learning it was so fun and amazing. We went to the beach instead of having play based learning at school.

On Monday when we went to the beach I played with Lola and Alivia my best friends and we made a ginormous Turtle out of sand and it was so big and it was really fun. We also had a big sand ball fight against each other. That was the best day especially making a big turtle. We went to the Wainui Beach because it is closest to our school. We also made this cool game called traffic jam its when you have big hole in the middle on the sand and you have to have 4 people on each side of the hole they have to go out a bit then someone says 3,2,1 and you all run at the same time and usually two people will get in a traffic jam and two people will make it.

On Tuesday when we went to the beach We made a big Gym club and I was a security. Lola was the boss.Alivia was the assistant and Charlotte was the builder. We were all so fighting each other and playing tag. We all went after one person like Alivia or lola and they would get brought down to the ground.

I think that Monday was more fun because I love to fight.

💙Coding/Instructions💜

In our class Moana Hub in our writing workshops on Tuesday and Wednesday we have been practising. What is the point in coding how does it help us with our learning and what makes coding ,Coding. We have figured out lots on coding lataly.

Coding is used in all soughts of ways like controlling a robot getting a phone to work. But in our writing workshop it's totally different. First Koka Ngaire drew a chart on the carpet with chalk and then she added all of these obstacles in the squares so it would be more difficult to do. What we had to do was get the smurf to the finish without getting it stuck in any of the obstacles.

For me I didn't really understand it at first and then I totally got it and I practised my code and tested it on the chart but it didn't work sadly I forgot to use 90 degree turns and stuff like that.

Level 2 at Wainui Beach School🚧🚥🚦

Level 2 is so boring.Since the 2 cases of coronavirus in Auckland the whole of Gizzy has become at level 2 and the whole of my school.

Every friday we would have discovery where in each class there is a different activity it's kind of like a day of fun I would call it (Fun Friday) because you also get to art for the whole day. But now that we have become at level 2 that has all been canceled so fun friday has become (Okay Friday).

Every saturday we have our wainui Wurl Winds netball game it is so much fun. On the News I heard that you can't go in gatherings more than 100!! people. So guess what that means it means that they let down My whole netball team and my friends. I really like the netball game because it was a morning of hanging out and cooperating with my friends.

The only 2 things that I like about being in  level 2 are...   1.We don't have to go to assembly because its more than 100 people including the parents who come and watch. I don't really like assembly because that all that kids really bugger me while I am listening and 2 I am always squished up. Though I do like the singing and the certificates. I also like being in level 2 because the whole of moana hub gets to be like a little group and it's actually quite fun doing everything together.

Tell me in the comments what you don't like and like about Covid 19.

^﹏^Learning {°•°} Through^_^Play

In our classes from room 4 to room 1 every Monday and Tuesday we have these different activities in each class.

In Room 4 there is Cardboard Nation. In Cardboard Nation it is where there is a whole lot of different types of Cardboard. And some of your challenges you have to create a marble run or a slingshot. I have not been to Cardboard Nation yet but next week I am definitely going to go there.

In Room 3 we have Junky Monkey. In Junky Monkey we have all of these cool toys like dolls and toy cars. You have all, these tools that you have to use to do deconstructing, breaking and recreating. I have been to Junky Monkey before it is so cool.

In Room 2 we have Makey Makey. Makey Makey is kinda like electronics you have all of these Alligator Clips and this cable thing and you are given a light bulb that you have to try and light up. Makey Makey is probably my favorite activity because I love stuff that has to do with technology.

And last but not least there is Planet Construct. In Planet Construct we have all of these parts like lego, julbo, marcano and all of that kind of stuff. I didn't really like it because I am not a big fan of building.

Thank you.

Prioritie Blog

In our class we have to complete 4 priorities.

The first is Quick Writes this week our quick write is about household chores. And you had to write 1. Should children help with household chores?. 2. what household chores would you enjoy and why?3. What household chores would be your least favorite and why? and last  If you could choose between home work or household chores what would you choose and why?
I think this topic is quite cool because I do chores all the time.

Then there is word work. Word work is fun because you do all these activities like unscramble the words. Find the meaning of a word. Write a sentence using in particular words. It is also fun because it is on paper and in our class we do most of our work on chromebooks so it's a nice break from chromebooks.

Second to last we do the best maths thing it's called Maths Whizz you can find the link here at https://student.whizz.com/room. It can also sense the type of maths person you are and they put you and the right stage they think you can figure out. It is also fun because you can have a profile that you can change and make your own outfit and bedroom. I think you should start doing Maths whizz it is so amazing!!

The last is blogs this is what I am writing about now you are reading it.

Netball✌

  Netball

What is your favorite sport?
Mine is Netball because it is fun and challenging. Every Tuesday I go to netball training with Janine My friends mum and practise our skills on the court. Every friday at lunch time our team has to go to a school and we play netball against them last time we played Awapuni and we lost 6-11 when we were in the game I realized that In the third quarter we were going really well and then in the fourth quarter we kinda just went right down, down,
down.

Netball is good for you because  you are actually learning something which is really good.
And in netball you can shoot hoopes. There are 3 moves A,C,D
My favorite is A because I love shooting a lot.

I think we lost because the team was quite tall and we were quite little
But we had a good game and it was fun.

Endangered Animals

Endangered Animals.

Did you know that some animals are becoming extinct from us humans.
People kill animals for their meat, their fur and their horns.
Rhino’s,Pandas,Tigers, turtles, grizzly Bears and polar bears are becoming
extinct.

We can make a change in our world by using less petrol,
eating less meat and to stop polluting our planet.

There are some people in our world who try to protest to save the animals,
and some people don’t care, they just want to get paid and don’t care about
animals.

You can make a changed

Maths

  Maths
You may think that maths is so boring because it exercises your brain.
Well you're wrong about wainui beach school moana hub. Maths in moana hub is so fun for me.Each time I go to maths we learn either a new equation or something quite tricky.

Maths in our class is so fun because our teacher shows us all these new tricks and we keep getting better and better at maths again and again. It is also fun because our teacher is so funny and always makes it funny and hard. In our class we have learnt how to use Koka Ngaires magic
An Example.
22x4=
All you do is this( 20+20+20+20) Then equal that together then you do this.(2+2+2+2)
Then you add that all together and you have-88

Thank You for listening to my speech on maths. Maybe you could try enjoying maths. And you could become a really good maths mathematician. If that's what you want to be when your older
Thankyou

🎨My Pepeha Art📌

                          🎨My Pepeha Art📌
This year in our class we started our own Pepeha Art!!. My Pepeha Art is really special to me because it includes everything our school relates to like,
Awa-Stream:  Awa stream is the Hamanatua Stream.
Maungaroa:  Maungaroa is all of our Mountains and Hills.
Tuahine point:  Tuahine point is our LightHouse.
Marae:  Marae is our Te poho O Rawiri Te Marae.

Our pepeha art takes quite a while because we have to do all of these steps.

First we have to draw out our picture using everything we need to. The second step is we have to colour it in but not on top of the picture we do it on the other side, otherwise it will not look good. Then we have to get an a-4 bit of card and put the picture the right way up on the card. The last step is to keep your picture on the card and trace the whole thing again.  You can remove it and you have a piece of beautiful Art
Like this.------------------------------------------------------->

I hope you liked my story about my Pepeha Art.

Learning cool moves in Just Dance🔈🔉🔊

Rendered Image

You may know about my coming back to school from the lock down blog post I mentioned doing Just dance. Well today I am going to tell you what Just Dance is and how I learnt  it.You can actually get the app Just Dance on your device and you can video yourself doing  a Just Dance and then you watch the video and you see what you look like. After every single morning tea everyone races to the hall to get started at Just Dance. I think you should do Just Dance because it can make you fit and it can make your brain grow bigger from trying new moves.  You can watch Just Dance on You Tube.
My favorite dance is old town road because it has all of these tricky but fun moves. Just Dance can have as many people in from single to groups of four you can do Just Dance any time you like. There are also every kind of Just Dance that makes you laugh that makes you happy and way more.
Thank You.

💕Wahoo School is back💜

                                                                         💕Wahoo School is back💜
We had been in lockdown for at least 5 weeks. Finally on the 18th of May I was able to bike to school and head into my favorite class Moana Hub, and see both of my best teachers, Koka Ngaire and Koka Terri. It felt so amazing to be back at school and see all of my friends again.

In Moana everyone had chrome books for doing our main priorities Steps and E-ako. School practically felt the same but we did have hand sanitizer that everyone had to put on before break and after break. We were still allowed to go into the playground and play on anything we liked.

I am so glad we could head back to school. The best part about every day was that after morning tea we had Just Dance which is when you can get in a group and dance your heart out. The part I missed most about lockdown was that I got to go to my friend's house and work there because we were in the same bubble.

First week back at school

                                                 First  week back at school

I had an amazing week back at school from monday to wednesday.

When I was back at school the teachers gave us these bits of paper that said  cat, kitten , meow & others  on it. And we had to find other people that matched the bits of paper .When you were in your group it was called a buzz group were you had to work as a team to think about which was the correct answer to the question and you would earn points. We also had this fun day with our buzz groups all working together.

When we started  school we did these really cool sheets that told the teachers about us and we had to add lots of detail it was so fantastic and we got to decorate it.

Our class did this amazing art work we had to have our own little bits of paper and a big bit of paper and we had to copy what was on the small bit of paper to the big bit of paper. Then we added it all together and it made a humongus bit of art.
I had an amazing week at school.
