Intermediate Visit✨

Wednesday 24th of November

All of the year 6s went to the Intermediate that they were going to, the following year. I am going to Ilminster because they have free lunches and there pupils are very kind and caring. Also I am doing Xcel witch is a programme where you get to do a bit of everything Art,PE,Science,Maths,Drama,Cooking and Swimming.

While I was at Ilminster I met some of my old friends from Kindergarten we all met up and played and worked together for the rest of the day it was really fun. At the end of the day we all had to talk about what we enjoyed and what we should bring next year.

After all the talking we walked to the main hall to get into our school lines to head back to school. On the bus I sat with some friends from Awapuni school I made during the day at Ilminster.

Kapa Haka

We were off in a flick of lighting to the kapa haka festival. The front row of boys and girls got changed into their Pew Pew. Then we got into our lines and had a big practise. We definitely sounded AMAZING!

Then one of the staff came out and told us it was time to begin our performance. We all slowly walked up the steps and onto the stage, then the crowd went wild! When they had finished clapping and cheering our Kaia said Whakapiri and we all bunched together and sang E Tariki,O.M.G we sounded terrific. I couldn't believe we sounded so amazing our voices all together just stretched all over and made us sing wonderful.

After all the singing had halfway finished the boys came up and did the Haka. Bay, the Kaia, lead the Haka and all the boys followed with angry and fierce voices. There faces went red as they firmly sang the Haka.

We finished with the crowd clapping and cheering loudly as we walked off the stage I could see people clapping and cheering and crying. This was the best. I love kapa Haka.

Interschool Athletics Day.

On Wednesday 4th of November all of the finalists from our school athletics day went to the interschool athletics to compete against other school members. First up for me was 200m sprints, we all lined up in a diagonal lane then the lady blew the whistle and we were off. At first I was coming fourth then suddenly a few girls over took me because I randomly out of the blue sprained my ankle? Anyway I was coming last with another girl my age and that's how I tied last in the race.

Next was ball throw, I actually did really well in ball throw I think I came around 4th or 5th. Ball throw was really hard though there were a lot of kids that could throw like 43 metres O.M.G. But of course I couldn't do that because I am not as good as the other people.

Sadly I missed my next race because I was carried away playing handball. I wish I had put sunscreen on my shoulders and neck because now my whole arms and neck have a double burn and is fully the colour red.

Monarch Butterfly show

On Wednesday the whole school went to the the Wainui Surf Club to watch the Monarch Butterfly show.

I walked with Lola and Alivia. It was quite interesting we learnt a lot about Monarch butterflies. Female Monarchs have no spots on their back wings and males do, I just learnt something new. It started like this, this girl was practicing her speech at her Nans and she was writing about butterflies then...

This random lady I think it was the Nana dressed up as this lady who loved cars and motor ways, and anyway they were going to destroy Lava Creek which is a butterfly resort where the Nana works. The random lady wanted to destroy lava creek to create a new motor way for cars and trucks because she thought that cars had to wait in traffic for so long. The Nana and the girl tried to make a stop to it and they managed to and the butterflies kept there home. Yay

I thought that the show was actually cool because I learnt a whole lot about Monarch butterflies.

Cross Country Day

 Tuesday 21st of September

On Tuesday we went down to our cross country track, at Okitu. We went in 2 year groups year 6s and year 5s.The year 6s were mixed together because there weren't many girls. The year 6s nervously walked to the starting point, We lined up.Then Matua Nick clapped the blocks and we sped off.

Milo was coming in 1st then I sped past him and started to run. Mako sped past me then bay then Angus. But I was still coming first out of the girls which I was relieved about. I was just about to run down the dip of grass when I got a whole mouthful of grass in my mouth I constantly kept spitting it out but it was stuck in there...

I made it to the second lap while still coming first out of the girls. I came to the dip again and ran straight down it in a hurry. Finally I made it to the finish line everyone cheered for me and I ran to get a drink.

That was sure a tiring day.

Pihita Farm Visitor🌽

On Tuesday the whole of our syndicate went to Tristan's farm to see how farms work and what animals do all day.

Our first station we went to was weighing the sheep.Weighing the sheep is actually really fun. They have this cool automatic scale that they put the sheep on if the sheep weigh the right amount they will go to the killing shed and be shot. If they weigh less they go back into the field and have to eat more grass to get more fat.

We also learnt what type of stuff cows can make with their milk. Our teacher for that station gave us this jar that had cream in it and we had to pass it around to see if the group could make butter our group actually did make butter.

Our group learnt lots of different types of wool. My friend Alivia got to shear the sheep and we saw the sheep when it had no wool and it looked so cute even though it had a few bleeding cuts. Apparently you can make carpets out of wool and I mean very fluffy wool also they made a surfboard made out of wool!

Shared kai in Moana 2

Last Thursday we had a shared kai because Koka Terri our Teacher was having a baby and so she needed to stay at home. For the shared kai I brought yummy fruit kebabs with chocolate and sprinkles.

About the shared kai. There was so much food, everything I ate was so delicious I loved the cheerios and someone brought cups of jelly which I enjoyed. My friend Te Atawhai brought her yummy chocolate chip cookies, I could eat 100 of them they were that good. The shared kai was fun but I will really miss Koka Terri she is a lovely teacher.

About Matua Beaue. Matua Beaue is so fun he is actually quite nice. Today I figured out that he has been to so many different countries. He said he has been to South Korea, Australia, Japan and I think America. Matua Beaue is really tall. Some kids said that Matua Beaue would allow them to do flips off tables so I asked Matua Beaue and he said they were making that all up.
